More about Live Five:
History
In 2004, Live Five was founded by five independent theatre companies committed to producing their own bodies of work. These companies came together to promote quality independent theatre in Saskatoon by presenting their productions as part of one distinct season. Live Five expanded in 2006 to include established guest companies in addition to the original core companies.
Mission
Live Five seeks to present quality independent theatre to Saskatoon’s theatregoers by providing established artist-driven companies the opportunity to produce as part of a collective season.
Season Six
The current season is as diverse as the Saskatchewan talent involved, ranging in styles from multimedia work to British drama and a series of short plays to a musical.
PWYC
Live Five introduces Pay What You Can (PWYC) Previews on the first Thursday night of each run at the Refinery. Common in the theatre communities of Edmonton and Vancouver, PWYC offers great theatre at a price the audience decides they can afford. This is a great option for students and new theatregoers, with a suggested minimum of $10. Those who would like to make a larger donation to independent theatre are also welcome!
The Refinery
Located at 609 Dufferin Ave, The Refinery offers a comfortable setting in which to enjoy an evening of theatre and socializing. Audiences are welcome to lounge with friends and chat with cast members after the show. With Live Five, theatre is an experience.
